The disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, is being investigated as a kidnapping by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.
Nancy was last seen January 31, 2026, after being dropped off at her Tucson home around 9:50 PM. In the early hours of February 1, a masked man was caught on her doorbell camera disabling it. Motion was later detected, and her pacemaker disconnected from its phone app—suggesting she was moved or the device was tampered with. She was reported missing later that day.
Investigators found blood on her porch confirmed to be hers. The FBI released footage of a suspect described as a man about 5’9”–5’10”, wearing a ski mask, gloves, and a black Ozark Trail backpack, possibly armed. Gloves matching the suspect’s were found nearby, but DNA has not identified anyone. Several ransom demands for $6 million in Bitcoin were sent to media outlets, though many appear to be hoaxes.
As of February 19, 2026, Nancy remains missing. The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward, and authorities have cleared her family of involvement.
