Breaking News: Steve Harvey, Goodbye Steve Harvey, we announce

A viral Facebook ad in May 2024 falsely claimed that Steve Harvey had been fired from Family Feud after nearly 14 years as host. The post alleged that tensions erupted following an on-air mistake and suggested that Harvey was abruptly removed from the show.

The claim was completely false. Harvey was not fired from Family Feud, and there was no interview with Oprah Winfrey that led to his dismissal. The ad was part of a scam promoting Canna Labs CBD Gummies, a product Harvey has never endorsed.

Users who clicked the ad were redirected to a fake CNN-style article hosted on a fraudulent website, not the official CNN platform. The story contained fabricated quotes from Harvey, Oprah Winfrey, ABC executives, and others, falsely claiming that Harvey discussed personal health issues during an interview and credited CBD gummies for helping him.

The article also included fake social media posts and misleading images of Harvey’s wife, Marjorie, and TV personality Dr. Phil. None of the claims were supported by credible sources.

Fact-checkers previously debunked similar scams involving Harvey and CBD products as far back as 2022. Similar false celebrity endorsement schemes have also targeted public figures such as Oprah Winfrey and Mayim Bialik.
