Beloved actor Michael J. Fox is mourning the loss of his dog Gus, a 12-year-old Great Dane–Labrador mix who stood by his side for over a decade. Fox shared the news with fans on social media, posting a photo of Gus and calling him a “great dog and loyal friend.”
In his 2020 memoir No Time Like the Future, Fox described Gus as his “wonder dog,” noting the deep comfort and companionship he provided, especially during Fox’s long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Fox credited Gus with easing his feelings of isolation and even helping him recover physically after spinal surgery in 2018.
Reflecting on their bond, Fox wrote that while some might say he rescued Gus, he believes Gus rescued him instead. Though the loss is painful, the love and memories they shared will remain forever.
