The 33-year-old artist chose to go public with her diagnosis through an exclusive feature with PEOPLE Magazine.
She has used her platform to encourage other young women to trust their instincts and advocate for their own health, noting that her own diagnosis came after she felt something “different” in an area of dense breast tissue.
