Before the operation, the pain became so intense that doctors administered a powerful sedative. Under its effects, Sajak experienced a vivid, dreamlike state filled with bright colors and overwhelming peace. Hearing the distant voices of his wife and daughter, he briefly believed he was dying. After waking from surgery, he realized the surreal experience was simply the result of the medication, later joking on Good Morning America, “I was merely high.”
The surgery was successful, and doctors confirmed the blockage was an isolated issue with no underlying chronic condition. Within weeks, Sajak made a full recovery and returned to hosting Wheel of Fortune.
